From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, breaking into the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could enable the team access areas they usually can’t.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to head to Timmony in search of the traitor.
Future Episodes
From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Explorers and Strategists parties.
Audiences can expect learning which players will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
