Viral video clips appeared to show Jones flashing his middle finger toward opposing supporters, but Jones insists he was actually giving a thumbs-up to Dallas supporters present at the game as his team clinched a decisive win.
“It was regrettable. That was essentially an interaction with Cowboys supporters seated near me,” Jones explained during a radio appearance. “There was a swarm of Cowboys fans—not New York fans, Cowboys fans. The entire stadium was filled with enthusiasm for the Dallas team.”
He further emphasized that the signal was completely accidental, happening amid the elation following the team’s final touchdown. “I just put up the wrong finger,” he noted. “It was inadvertently performed. This is sincere. Should you call it unplanned, you can. But it got corrected pretty quick.”

This incident isn’t the initial instance an league proprietor has been fined for inappropriate behavior. Previous cases involve:
